What equipment do I need?
The most common type of dictation machine uses tapes. These can be simply posted by either 1st class post or recorded delivery. Under normal circumstances, these will be transcribed on the day they are received, and the documents immediately e-mailed to you ready to be saved to your computer files and printed in-house.
Digital dictation machines are becoming ever more popular. These enable the recording to be downloaded onto a PC and from there either e-mailed or downloaded to CD.
How long does it take to transcribe a file?
As an average, assuming there is only one speaker and the recording is clear, 15 minutes of audio would take approximately 1 hour to transcribe and format. However, the length of time will increase where there is more than one speaker, interruptions, background noise etc.
How are the transcription costs calculated?
The cost is ‘per recorded minute’. Rates vary dependant on the level of transcription
required. Other services will be calculated according to your specific requirements. Rest assured that the cost will be fair, reasonable and affordable.
How do I send audio files to you?
Most .dss files can be e-mailed. Other formats are much larger and arrangements can be made to enable clients to transfer the files easily. Details will be supplied upon request.
